Aerial-Cam - Stonehenge and the A344 - July 2013

The Stonehenge experience changes for ever.....

Mike Pitts (ed British Archaeology magazine) recently blogged a visit to Stonehenge and photographed the start of the changes taking place within the World Heritage Site. Most notably the removal of a section of the A344, between the old visitors centre and the junction with the A303. This marks the beginning of a significant change to the Stonehenge experience for future visitors and it prompted me to dig through my archive for images and work I have done there in the last decade or so. From working on the Stonehenge Riverside Project (2006 - 2009) to recording the Milestones along the A303/A344 for a road scheme report in 2004. So I have selected some images which I hope illustrate some of the background history to Stonehenge and the A344.
